 The COVID 19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on our lives and, inevitably, also on our way of planning training.
Most training institutions have been able to adjust course administration, student assignments and assessment without great difficulty. The necessary technology was already present but students and teachers were often not comfortable using ICT technologies for daily activities and in the classroom. The same was true of a number of other schools and training providers across Europe. The Italian project partner has collected key best practices and lessons learned during the project lifetime.  During project meetings, the partner group has visited a number of schools and educational institutions to learn first hand from about experiences in Covid19 from the people involved, as well as doing interviews and collecting video diaries. The impact will hopefully both assist current education and training providers in coping with the new reality for teachers and learners alike, as well as to prepare us for future scenarios where schools have to adapt to unforseen circumstances.
Emphasis has been on the more difficult areas of education and training, e.g. physical education, vocational education and training for the elderly, and how these groups can learn and adapt techniques and educational approaches utilising IT, blended learning models and flipped classroom. You can find the key results from each partnership meeting here  The final meeting in the BestEDU project (M6) took place in Zagreb, Croatia on 6 - 7 February 2023. The focus of the meeting was experiences and best practices in Croatia during COVID19 with special emphasis on special needs education and training.
 As part of the BestEDU project, Keilir Academy has produced a series of podcasts on good practice in education during the Covid19 pandemic. The podcasts were done by Thorsteinn Surmeli, teacher at Keilir and a PhD student at University of Iceland, who's currently working on his dissertation on the status of secondary schools during Covid19, their challenges and how they have adapted following the pandemic.

The meeting included all project partners and was arranged jointly by Action Synergy and Keilir Academy. Focus was on best practices and environments in COVID in informal training, Participants and teachers also participated in practical training sessions in Athens, Greece, based on the use of Theatre in Education and Drama-based methods: Good practices and participatory activities.

The focus of the meeting was on best practice examples in Icelandic education during Covid19 as well as innovative use in educational methods and approaches. Project partners and teachers also participated in practical use of VR & AR in education.
TRAINING SESSION: ICT in primary education and use of both VR&AR in lesson plans Session organised and carried out by Álfhildur Leifsdóttir at Árskóli Primary School and Ingvar Hrannar Ómarsson from the Ministry of Education. As part of the training activities, the partnership group prepared and practiced use of VR in science education during a half day session at 1238 The Battle of Iceland Museum in Sauðárkrókur, Iceland, which was used for primary school students while it was closed down for general public during Covid19. "The training session at 1238 – The Battle of Iceland was a unique experience and showed me, how VR can be used in a way, which makes learning fully immersive and lively. As a history teacher I am focused on, how history can come to life through both the living word and rich resources. A continuous struggle is to let students experience history – because it requires a high level of abstraction. VR has potentials here to both let the emerge into the past and still experience artefacts and resources with historical accuracy. Same goes for AR, but here the students also can become producers of quality content. Highlighting the iterative process between analysis, reflections, and production. The third BestEDU transnational meeting took place in Rome, Italy on 27 - 28 May 2022. The primary focus for the meeting was on adult education and non-formal training during Covid, the challenges and impact the pandemic had on training activities in Italian industry.  |
