The final meeting in the BestEDU project (M6) took place in Zagreb, Croatia on 6 - 7 February 2023. The focus of the meeting was experiences and best practices in Croatia during COVID19 with special emphasis on special needs education and training.
Key takeaway
In special education is that there is actually big tradition in using technology for certain problems (hard of hearing, blindness, dyslexia, dyscalculia) and in the face-to-face situations. Moreover, there are lots of evidence what works with technology in special education and in face-to-face situations. However, transferring this knowledge to distance education is totally another ball game and something very new to the field (for several reasons, e.g., special education has relied on strong physical interaction between teacher and students). Moreover, when we start to talk about mental health issuses, behavioral and emotional problems etc., the situation is totally new.
